ALtogether Alabama, Inc. (”Company” or “We”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.  This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the website www.altogetheralabama.org (our “Website”), as well as our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

This policy applies to information we collect:

  • On this Website.

  • In email, text, and other electronic messages between you and this Website.

  • To information that you may submit voluntarily on our website through completing surveys or other means.

  • Through mobile and desktop applications you download from this Website, which provide dedicated non-browser-based interaction between you and this Website.

  • When you interact with our advertising and applications on third-party websites and services, if those applications or advertising include links to this policy.

  • Through any cookies or other website analytics employed by our website, as further discussed below.

We collect several types of information from and about users of our Website, including information:

A. Information You Provide to Us

When you visit our Website, we have several surveys available for you to identify yourselves as a community organization, an impacted business or volunteer business, a nonprofit organization, or an individual seeking assistance or seeking to volunteer. We will be asking for contact information as well as more description of your needs or capacity to meet needs. The purpose of our website is to act as a channel and coordinator of information between our communities and coalition partners to provide, collect, and direct information in order to coordinate assistance in the more effective and efficient means possible.

The information we collect on or through our Website may include:

  • Information that you provide by filling in surveys or forms on our Website. This includes information provided at the time of registering with or using our Website, posting or submitting material, completing and submitting surveys on our website, including yourself or your entity on a database or distribution list, or requesting further services. We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with our Website.

  • Information you may submit through such survey or forms could include, but are not limited to, the following elements:  name, phone, email, business entity type, location, zip code, website links, preferred contact method, donation materials or types, capacity for manufacturing certain goods or providing certain services, unique qualifications, licensures, or other special skills, areas of interest or other information.

  • Records and copies of your correspondence (including email addresses), if you contact us.

  • Your search queries on the Website, if and to the extent search functionality may become available.

You also may provide information to be published or displayed (hereinafter, “posted”) on public areas of the Website, or transmitted to other users of the Website or third parties (collectively, “User Contributions”). Your User Contributions are posted on and transmitted to others at your own risk. Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. Additionally, we cannot control the actions of other users of the Website with whom you may choose to share your User Contributions. Therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that your User Contributions will not be viewed by unauthorized persons.

By completing these forms and surveys, you are authorizing us to share your information with partner organizations in need of volunteers. You may be contacted directly by the organization in need of support.

B. Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies 

As you navigate through and interact with our Website, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including:

  • Details of your visits to our Website, including traffic data, location data, logs, and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Website.

  • Information about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system, and browser type.

We also may use these technologies to collect information about your online activities.  We currently do not track customers or visitors over time and across third party websites to provide targeted advertising, and therefore, do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals.  However, some third party sites do keep track of your browsing activities when they serve you content, which enables them to tailor what they present to you. We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information:

  • Tracking Technologies and Advertising. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this site may then be inaccessible or not function properly.

  • Promotional Offers from the Company. If you do not wish to have your email address or contact information used by the Company for the purposes described in this website, you can always choose not to submit such information in a survey, although it may impact our ability to coordinate assistance for your or to facilitate your assistance of others. If you wish to remove your name and contact information from our databases or distribution lists, please send us an email stating your request to [email protected]  If we have sent you a promotional email, you may send us a return email asking to be omitted from future email distributions. This opt out does not apply to information provided to the Company as a result of a transaction, fulfillment of a request, or other communications of a transactional or customer support nature.

  • Targeted Advertising. We do not currently engage in targeted advertising using the information that we collect or that you provide to us. If, in the future, we choose to engage in behavioral advertising using such information, we will update our policy accordingly and provide you with instructions on how to opt out of such advertising.

We do not control third parties’ collection or use of your information to serve interest-based advertising. However these third parties may provide you with ways to choose not to have your information collected or used in this way. You can opt out of receiving targeted ads from members of the Network Advertising Initiative (”NAI”) on the NAI’s website.

VII. Accessing and Correcting Your Information]

We may not be able to delete or correct information to the extent it has already been shared with third parties or if it is not technically feasible to do so.  We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

If you delete your User Contributions from the Website, copies of your User Contributions may remain viewable in cached and archived pages, or might have been copied or stored by other Website users. Proper access and use of information provided on the Website, including User Contributions, is governed by our terms of use.

VIII. State Privacy Rights

As a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing assistance to Alabama residents related to the COVID-19 crisis, we should not be subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act or other state laws affording privacy rights to their residents. In addition, Nevada law allows customers to “opt out” of the sale of certain personal information (“covered information”). We do not engage in sales of covered information as defined by applicable Nevada law and do not currently have plans to change that practice. To the extent our plans change, we will update our privacy policies and disclosures to allow for a designated mechanism for Nevada residents to submit a verified request.

IX. Data Security

We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers behind firewalls.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our Website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone. We urge you to be careful about giving out information in public areas of the Website like message boards. The information you share in public areas may be viewed by any user of the Website.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Website. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Website.

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page.
